「～中心の/～志向の」の表現(centered on/oriented)

今回は「～中心の/～志向の」の表現をまとめていきます！

「～中心の」

-oriented
「～志向の」

centered on

あるものに対して注意を傾けるイメージで「～中心の」の意味です。

if your attention centres on something or someone, or is centred on them, you pay more attention to them than anything else
LONGMAN

The government thinks about things centered on the economy.
「政府は、経済を中心に物事を考えます。」

I began to think of my life as centered on my children.
「子供中心に生活を考えるようになった。」

何かに向けてや何かのためにというイメージで「～志向の」の意味です。orientは動詞で「～を方向づける」の意味があります。また名詞では「アジア/東洋」の意味があります。

if something is market-oriented, customer-oriented etc, it is developed or done to meet the market’s or the customer’s needs

The country is moving toward a market-oriented economic model.
「この国は、市場志向の経済モデルに向かっている。」

Consumer-oriented stocks have done well.
「消費者向けの銘柄が好調です。」
