【英語表現】「～ならいいのに」って英語でなんていうの？(wish/hope)

「有名人と知り合いだったらいいのに。」は英語でどのように表現するのでしょうか？
今回は、「～ならいいのに」の使い方をまとめていきます！

とりあえずここだけ覚えて！！
wish +仮定法
「～ならいいのに」（現実的ではない）

hope +主節と同じ時制
「～を望む」（現実的）

wish

「～ならいいのに」を意味します。
仮定法なので、あくまで仮定しているのみで現実的ではないという気持ちが含まれています。

【仮定法】
・「（話している時点で）～ならいいのに」：過去形
(ex. I wish he talked to me.)
・「（話しているよりも前の時点で）～だったらいいのに」：過去完了形
(ex. I wish he had talked to me.)

used with the past simple to express that you feel sorry or sad about a state or situation that exists at the moment:

I wish I knew someone famous.
「有名人と知り合いだったらいいのに思っている。」

She wishes she were smarter.
「彼女は自分がもっと賢ければいいのにと思っている。」

She wishes she had studied science at Tokyo University.
「彼女は東京大学で科学を学んでおけばよかったと思っている。」

My parents wished they had one more son 5 years ago.
「私の両親は、5年前にもう一人息子がいればと思っていた。」

※agoは「～前に」の意味です。beforeとの使い分けなど、こちらの記事にまとめてあります(^^)/

as ifと同様にwishでも直説法をつかうことはできるのでしょうか？実は、wishの場合はほとんど仮定法で使われます。直説法を使いたい場合は、wishの代わりにhopeを使います。
意味はwishと同じで「～を望む」「～を願う」となり、より現実的な想像をする時に使われます。

「パーティーであなたが有名人と知り合えることを願っているよ。」

He hoped he talked to her..
「彼は彼女と話すのを望んでいた。」
