海外ドラマ頻出イディオム「stick to」の表現

今回は「stick to」の表現をまとめていきます！

とりあえずここだけ覚えて！！

stick to
意味①「(困難なことを)やり通す」
意味②「(あることに)固執する」

stick to

困難であっても、自分がやると言ったこと、自分が信じていることを続けるイメージで「やり通す」の表現です。

to do or keep doing what you said you would do or what you believe in, even when it is difficult

Have you been sticking to your diet?
「ダイエットを続けていますか？」

It looks as if Nick will stick to his word this time.
「今回、ニックはその約束を守るようです。」

1つのことをやり続け、他のことに変えないイメージで「固執する」の表現です。

to keep using or doing one particular thing and not change to anything else

「車を運転するときは、ソフトドリンクにしましょう。」

Reporters should stick to investigating the facts.
「記者は事実を調査することに専念すべきだ。」
