細かいニュアンスを示す「something about」の表現(なんとなく)

今回は「something about」の意味をまとめていきます！

とりあえずここだけ覚えて！！

There’s something about (名詞) that
「(名詞)はなんとなく(that以下)だ」

There’s something (形容詞) about (名詞)
「(名詞)にはなんとなく(形容詞)的

something about

自分では認識しているが、それが何であるかを正確に言えないような状況で使われ「何となく」の表現です。

used to say that a person, situation etc has a quality or feature that you recognize but you cannot say exactly what it is

以下ではこちらのフレーズを活用した表現を見ていきます。

「(名詞)はなんとなく(that以下)だ」の表現です。

There’s something about her voice that I find really sexy.
「彼女の声には、何かとてもセクシーなものを感じます。」

There’s something about Keigo Higashino that sends you spinning from page one.
「東野圭吾には、読者にページを次々とめくらせるような何かがあるのだ。」

There’s something about the design of the service ticket that troubles me somehow.
「サービス・チケットの設計に関して、どこか引っ掛かるところがあるんだ。」

「(名詞)にはなんとなく(形容詞)的なところがある」の表現です。

「彼女にはどこかユニークなところがある。」

There’s something special about him.
「彼にはなんとなく特別なものを感じる。」

There is something intellectual about him.
「彼にはどこか知的なところがある。」

There is something attractive about her.
「彼女にはなんとなく魅力的なものを感じる。」
