「無視する」の英語表現(neglect/ignore/disregard)

今回は「無視する」の英語表現を紹介していきます！

とりあえずここだけ覚えて！！
ignore
事実を認めず「無視する」

neglect
当然するべきことを「無視する」

disregard
軽くとらえて「無視する」

ignore

明らかになっていることを認めたくないために意図的に注意を払わず「無視する」というイメージです。

to deliberately pay no attention to something that you have been told or that you know about
LONGMAN

Don’t ignore the task at hand.
「目の前の課題を無視してはいけません。」

problems which we can’t ignore.
「無視できない問題」

当然するべきことやものを「無視する」というイメージです。

to fail to look after someone or something properly
LONGMAN

Don’t neglect your duty.
「義務を怠るな。」

If you neglect payment of the fine, the punishment will be worse.
「罰金の支払いを無視したら、罰が重くなるよ。」

注意を払わなかったり軽視して「無視する」というイメージです。

to ignore something or treat it as unimportant

The prime minister disregarded public opinion.
「首相は世論を軽視していた。」
