「都合がいい/不都合な事実」の表現(convenient/inconvenient)

今回は「都合がいい/不都合な事実」の表現をまとめていきます！

とりあえずここだけ覚えて！！

convenient
「都合がいい」

inconvenient
「都合が悪い」

都合がいい

何かを避けるために素早く動くイメージで「身をかわす」の表現になります。ドッジボールのdodgeはこちらの意味になります。

useful to you because it saves you time, or does not spoil your plans or cause you problems
LONGMAN

He believes only what is convenient.
「彼は都合がいいことばかりを信じる。」

The contract said only what was convenient for the other side.
「その契約書には先方に都合がいいことしか書いていなかった。」

議論などを「意図的に避ける」の表現になります。

Whenever something inconvenient happened, he became angry.
「都合が悪いことが起こると、彼は怒りだした。」

I wonder why she’s in such a bad mood. Something inconvenient has happened, I guess.
