「混同する」の表現(confuse/mix up)

confuse

ある人や物を他の人や物だと間違って考えるイメージで「混同する」の表現です。confuse A with Bで「AとBを混同する」となります。

to think wrongly that a person or thing is someone or something else
LONGMAN

People might confuse the two products.
「この2つの製品を混同する人がいるかもしれません。」

I always confuse you with your sister – you look so alike.
「私はいつもあなたとお姉さんを間違えます。あなたたちはとても似ています。」

こちらもある人や物を別の人や物だと思ってしまうイメージで「混同する」の表現です。 mix up A with Bで「AとBを混同する」となります。

to make the mistake of thinking that someone or something is another person or thing

I always mix him up with his brother. They look so much alike.
「私はいつも彼と彼の弟を混同してしまう。彼らはとてもよく似ています。」
