今回は「言及する/話に触れる」の表現をまとめていきます！

「言及する/話に触れる」

refer to

何かや誰かについてのことを明確に持ち出して詳細にまで「言及する」の意味です。

to mention or speak about someone or something
LONGMAN

Although she didn’t mention any names, everyone knew who she was referring to.
「名前は言わなかったが、誰のことを言及しているのかは誰にでもわかる。」

We agreed never to refer to the matter again.
「この件については二度と言及しないことを約束した。」

詳細には触れず、軽く話を持ち出して「言及する」の意味です。

to talk or write about something or someone, usually quickly and without saying very much or giving details
LONGMAN

As I mentioned earlier, there have been a lot of changes recently.
「先ほども言いましたが、最近はいろいろな変化がありました。」

The report failed to mention that most of the landowners do not live on their properties.
「この報告書では、地主のほとんどが自分の土地に住んでいないことに触れていない。」

先ほどと同様に詳細には触れず、軽く話を持ち出して「言及する」の意味です。

to mention a particular subject when talking or writing
LONGMAN

The report touches on the relationship between poverty and poor health.
「報告書では、貧困と健康状態の悪さの関係に触れています。」

These issues were touched on in Chapter 2.
「これらの問題は、第2章で触れたとおりです。」
