「patch things up with him」の表現(彼と仲直りする)

patch up

patchは動詞で「何かをつぎ当てる」という意味になります。patch upで何かをつぎ合わせるように相手との仲を修復するイメージで「仲直りする」の表現になります。

Did you manage to patch things up with her after your row?
「騒動の後、彼女とは仲直りできた？」

Jackie and Bill are still trying to patch up their marriage.
「ジャッキーとビルは、いまだに結婚生活を修復しようとしている。」

「そろそろ2人で仲良くしたらどうかな？」

Apparently, they’ve since patched things up with their father.
