「知り合い」「知人」の表現(friend/acquaintance/neighbor)

今回は「知り合い」「知人」の表現をまとめていきます！

とりあえずここだけ覚えて！！

acquaintance
フォーマルな「知人」

friend
一般的な「知人」

neighbor
近くに住んでいる「隣人」

acquaintance

フォーマルな表現で「知人」「知り合い」という意味になります。

someone you know, but who is not a close friend
LONGMAN

We have many acquaintances in common.
「私たちには共通の知り合いがたくさんいる。」

He has a lot of acquaintances.
「彼には知り合いがたくさんいる。」

friendは「友人」「友達」と覚えている方も多いと思いますが、英語のfriendはより幅が広い意味で使われ「知人」「知り合い」となります。

I have a friend who lives in Tokyo.
「私は東京に知人がいる。」

Take care of your friends.
「知人を大切にしなさい。」

近くに住んでいる隣人で「知人」「知り合い」という意味です。

「近所の人が、パーティーの騒音に苦情を言ってきました。」

I gave some vegetables to my neighbors.
「近所の人に野菜をあげました。」
