「窮地に追いやる/追い詰める」
corner
cornerは動詞で、ある場所に人を「追い詰める」の意味があります。
to force a person or animal into a position from which they cannot easily escape
LONGMAN
Once the dog was cornered, he began to growl.
「追い詰められると、犬はうなり声を上げ始めた。」
「追い詰められると、犬はうなり声を上げ始めた。」
The boys cornered him on a subway platform and began beating him.

こちらはcornerを名詞として使った表現で、誰かをあるコーナーに押し込み「追い詰める」の表現です。
